Bomber Jacket - BB Dakota// Top - Tobi// Skirt - BB Dakota// Vest - BB Dakota// Boots - Naya// Bag - Michael Kors// Watch - Betsey Johnson

Wait what? I'm 18 already - wow. Well, hello to jury duty. Turning 18 hasn't felt much different but November was a wonderful month (as all November babies would say). One of the highlights was a huge haul I picked up at the BB Dakota sample sale where I found this beauty of a bomber jacket. Drumroll for the price of ... $10. Can we take a moment for that? This will be my holiday jacket, my outing jacket, my everything. And very guilty of wearing a little too much BB Dakota in one day but I was so dang excited about my haul... That post is coming up. (Hint: I bought a lot of coats)

Have a great first half of December as I will be hidden in a Starbucks somewhere to study for finals. xo

Just a little mood board for the time being that comes with the soundtrack of Electric Youth's  (my favorite band) new single.
Play and scroll through what this loss of innocence is featuring some of my favorite editorials I've accumulated in my inspiration folder.  Full of dark fantasies, beauty turned evil, and glimpses of light. Call me a girl who wants to live in fiction forever xo

Topshop and Thrifty Things

Well it wasn't sweater weather, but I decided to finally wear this outfit. It was just one of those days where you just feel like, "you know what, I'm gonna wear this outfit I've been imagining since summer, but it was too hot to wear it then." So, I wore it and really, I have been imagining this outfit since summer. And it was perfectly topped off with my new slip-ons courtesy of Aldo shoes. I pretty much have been trying to find similar styles to the Celine one for MONTHS ON END, but then I saw this black scale texture and I just had to get them. (I have a huge problem with black patent and leather and shiny things, please help.)
And it took me 12 years of my school life to finally wear plaid...

Top - eBay// Cardi - Cotton On// Skirt - Nordstrom BP// Boots - Shoemint

I've come to conclusion college makes me happy. I don't know why but I'm probably the happiest I've ever been in my life. Whoa now. Though I spend 5+ extra hours at school doing homework or studying at Starbucks, I'm happy. And I've pretty much been my own cheerleader since I've gotten into school as well. I've made it a habit to look in the quotes section of Pinterest every morning right after I wake up and pin my favorite motivational quotes to my board (time to time I tweet my favorites). Is it too much? Well who cares, it helps me get up to a good mood! I've learned lately it's really no reason to wake up in a bad mood, no matter how sleepy you are; there is a whole day ahead of you to make good memories and learn amazing things.

I actually wore this outfit some weeks ago, but due to an excessive amount of homework and projects and life (heh, barely have that) I am finally getting around to posting now. California is FINALLY starting to get colder and I'm definitely in the holiday mood already! (No seriously, bring out the Christmas songs and peppermint stuff) So I consider this outfit pretty much the lasts of my summer-to-winter transition. And trust me, it wasn't that hard to say goodbye this time. New days ahead in a happy mood and a wonderful time of year. (I'm trying to cover up finals with Christmas coming okay??)

Some of the quotes I've pinned to my board. Follow it if you love this stuff!

Until next time, enjoy xo

Revamped Workspace

My inspiration (photos from Pinterest board)

I've been very addicted to a well organized workspace lately (or a lot of my life, maybe.) My desk area is a cherished place for me, even though I don't spend much time there, when I do I prefer it the prettiest workspace ever. So one day I told my dad, I wanted new bookshelves and whole new organization strategy. I motivated, specially because I am just starting out college and I was in the whole "let's start fresh" mode. So here are some tips and pics of my organization renovation!

I got these really cool book-ends from Ikea (top photo) that come in two orientations, horizontal and vertical. It gives a cool modern touch to my room, plus they are metal so I added some polaroids with a magnet to make it more personal. (It's all about making it personal in my book!) As for the organization on my actual desk, I have wonderful assortment of small buckets from the dollar section in Target and a tiny media center from the clearance area in Marshalls where I keep all my wires organized. You really don't have to spend much for this which is what I love, plus it keeps things in place. Less clutter! Yay!

My first shelf is dedicated to school. I bought two magazine holders, and I used one for all my notebooks. Since I have class every other day, I don't feel the point of lugging it around all notebooks in my backpack when I don't need it, so this was a perfect way to keep all of them in one place at my disposal. *Important* I make sure my planner is in plain sight for me to make sure I look at it and make sure I've gotten everything done! You can get the same one I have here*  I also stacked fashion related books next to my textbooks to keep it my main focus, since I am studying fashion merchandising. Then again, a little personal touch with my cute Animal Crossing toy!

My next shelf is for some of my loved books. I had to organize a LOT out of my shelves and picked out the ones that were visually appealing and my favorites. I even sent my beloved yearbooks beneath my bed.

Again, here I am with my personal touches! This is one of my favorite pictures from my graduation day and my dad decided to buy me a cheesey graduation frame, so why not? (Also, anyone play kendama?) And I used the other magazine holder for all current magazine issues of the month. When I read them and a new issue comes out, I switch out the magazines and store the older ones in a box that stays under my bed.

And of course, I gotta display all of my beloved books. I could not just store these in a box under my bed could I?! NEVER. Big tip for making your room you, even if you may not use it all the time but it makes you happy to see it, then go for it and display it! Just make sure it's organized and in a composed place. It is definitely the hardest thing to sort things out from what you need and don't need but it's a great process to learn how to let go on some things and let new things come into your life.

And that is the small 7 hour journey of my newly remodeled work space. I think decluttering and reorganizing is a must at least twice a year, even though I do it probably once every two months (I think it's an addiction). A room should be the greatest place to escape (and if you share a room and disagree with this, I'm very sorry and send you love, hoping you find comfort in a corner seat at your local Starbucks).

I've been on a hiatus, I know. College is seriously life, and I am trying to give all or most of my attention to my studies. I'll try to post sparingly to document what I've been learning and doing. Hope everyone else is having a great school year!

Summer in September

Bandeau - BB Dakota// Skirt - H&M// Cover-Up - Etsy// Necklace - Forever 21// Sandals - Sam Edelman// Sunnies - Nordstrom BP

Boy has college taken a toll on me. I'm still adjusting to the new changes and trying not to be apart of the "freshmen 15" statistic. But so far so good. I'm taking a few fashion classes and some of our assignments are to trend forecast and look out for red carpet styles, but I already do that! So you can say I'm having a lot of fun. Anyways, my sister borrowed a tripod from a family member with a clicker, and I had some fun! I decided to wear pretty much all black today with my usual picks (skater skirt and some type of crop) then topped it off with this rad kimono style cover-up that my sister made, which you can buy on EtsyI'm so proud of her, so won't you do me the favor on checking out her store?

On another note, summer seems like it barely started here in SoCal, and it hasn't been fun. I'm literally sweating while drinking my Pumpkin Spice Latte. So, with that, I've been trying to beat the heat and the first problem that always comes to mind is my hair. These long locks and I have a love/hate relationship. I've tried the milkmaid hair style and love how free I feel, but I wanted some of my hair down, so I only did half of the process of the style. BAM, I got this hairstyle and I love it! It makes me feel like a princess yet I can wear this with a lot of outfits.  What do you think?

My Mirror

Kill me off. Call me irresponsible, call me unreliable ... *finishes song in head* ANYWAYS. Due to my sucky scheduled life without my sister (aka my photographer), I've been taking quick mirror pictures with my phone. I haven't had a real photo shoot in the longest, and I need one soon! Bare with me but I did want to share these outfits with you because it is an evolution of my style within about two months. Let's just say I haven't been as conservative as before (thank godric for Blogilates). Enjoy.

Oh, and I've been trying to style my hair differently. Opinions?

In other news it's freakin fashion week and I'm excited! It's already day 3 and I'm mentally tired from remembering all the collections. Prababl Gurung killed it and so did the girls at Cushnie Et Ochs. What were your favorites?

Teen Vogue's Back-To-School-Saturday: Experience

It's finally here! So, if yalls didn't know I volunteered to work at Teen Vogue's Back-To-School Saturday event held at the Grove in Los Angeles! And I just wanted to share my experience with you all. Please bare with my iPhone quality! I was pretty much "on the job" so just snapped pictures when it was appropriate to do so. Enjoy!

[Teen Vogue BTSS fashion show + X Factor UK's Little Mix]
Friday, August 9, 2013 - Fliers
My first day (out of the two very long days) at the event was dedicated to passing out fliers to everyone around the Grove. I came quite early so I went around the center talking to [mostly] girls about the event. They all waited in a MASSIVE line, wrapping around corners of the Grove to see the musical performance by UK's pop band Little Mix. All of them were very excited and so energetic it was a lot to handle.
I was partnered with another Teen Vogue It Girl named Amanda, who is actually signed with Wilhemina Modeling Agency! I'm not surprised either. She is gorgeous! It was nice getting to know her as we passed out fliers to local Grove dwellers and were even rejected some of the times. - You know those people in the mall that try to offer you something and you just kinda walk away? That's what we did. So to people who do this in the mall, I give you props. - Besides that, we passed out free issues of the September Teen Vogue magazine feat. One Direction on the cover! Speaking of One Direction, this girl (me) got to speak with Liam Payne's parents (AKA my future parents in law). They are ADORABLE. Done and done. It was the highlight of my day. Along with meeting Jason Wagenheim, the Vice President/Publisher of Teen Vogue! Talk about a dream.

After some hours of walking about the Grove, we actually got to watch the fashion show hosted by EID of Teen Vogue, Amy Astley + Disney's Bella Thorne. I actually only got to see half of the show, but the half I did see was AMAZING. Style was on point done by Catherine Newell. I dream of doing that some day. Then came the big performance by Little Mix. (X-Factor UK winners) Okay, I'm going to be honest - I actually never heard about Little Mix until that day and let me tell you, they were really good. I was surprised. They gave me a little Spice Girls feel (but trust me, no one will ever be better than them) and they weren't over done with dance moves. I like them now. *goes and downloads all their music*
Alas, as the show ended, everyone left and I was excited to go home but boy was I hungry. I decided to go on a little lunch/dinner date by myself in the Farmer's Market. I got lost. I think people started to stare because they figured I was a noob and had no idea what I was doing in there. Think of the Farmer's Market like a grouped up area of food shops and tables surrounding it like a maze. I ended up getting some delicious Korean food and some Jasmine Milk Tea w/boba. (That Asian life) So I end Day 1....

[TopShop presentation done by Teen Vogue's Mary Kate Steinmiller]
Saturday, August 10, 2013 - Fliers
I was excited about Saturday because I would get to see one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Kelsey from Runaway in LA. (She's way fabulous, you need to read her blog - flawless) She's heading to NYU! How crazy! Anyways, we unfortunately did not get to work with the same companies - I was with Vera Wang and she was with Smart Water. This day I was supervised by the Promotions Assistant, Baileigh who is the sweetest! It was great talking to someone who actually works for Teen Vogue, I was inspired.
Saturday was the actually shopping day at the Grove and it featured a enclosed area of booths brought by ASOS, Maybelline, Keds, and more! They were having "DIY" t-shirts at ASOS, manis with Maybelline, and a photo booth at the KEDS station with a backdrop of Taylor Swift. As people enjoyed the lawn of a back-to-school mogul, I went around promoting the Vera Wang Pink Princess scent - which by the way, smells amazing. I'm not even kidding you, I love the scent! I basically spritzed people on their wrists with the scent if they wanted to try it. I think that was my favorite part - talking to fashion lovers just like me or people who love free stuff.
I was also put into promoting what was going to be occurring during the entire day. Passing out fliers, again, but this time I partnered with a girl named Morgan who came to California to intern for Nickelodeon, how amazing is that? She told me about her experiences and how she's gone to Teen Vogue Fashion University two years in a row, I was beyond jealous/amazed.
After spritzin' and promoting, we got pulled to the Nordstrom store to tell everyone that the fashion presentation with Collection B would be starting soon. I honestly thought it was a tiny creepy walking around the store and just telling them about it, but to my surprised, the people I told were excited and actually showed up to watch the presentation. They had a surprise performance by After Romeo - wait who? - that's what I said when they announced them as well. I had no clue who they were and neither did the audience, but they were ookaay. I liked the Little Mix performance much better. Collection B is a brand that is held at Nordstrom in the BP section, their main focus is affordable outerwear with great quality.

Next up: A fashion presentation presented by Mary Kate Steinmiller, the Senior Fashion Marketing Editor of Teen Vogue. Ok, fangirled inside big time about this. I was the only volunteer left at this point so I had to job of going around the whole TopShop store and telling people about the presentation. I got some girls excited about it and some were just waiting until I'm out of their face. Either way, the experience of talking to strangers is great, it makes you fearless (because people are sooo scary right?). Anyways, the fashion presentation was great and Mary Kate Steinmiller gave great great tips for back to school trends, which I elaborated here in my back-to-school trend post. The presentation was a great way to end my day.

When I was done with my work I stayed in TopShop with Kelsey to shop (duh). I bought a fun bright yellow knit sweater, on sale of course, and I really can't wait until I can wear it. After that I headed out to have a late lunch with my favorite girl, Kelsey. I had sushi (of course) and she ate something that comes with pita bread and hummus. Afterwards we hit up some stores and I became her personal shopper because she couldn't read the top shelves at Zara, very fun. We both struck out there and at the very tiny Forever 21. Then I said my final farewells to her for the last time before she headed out to New York for NYU, she's there now - so tweet her a welcome and good luck! Hope to see you there soon!

P.S. I just wanted to let it be known that I have started college! Whoo hoo! (kinda, it's still school so I'm just always tired.) But if I lack on some posts, please forgive me as school always comes first. If you are starting school are started already, I wish you the best!

Back-to-School: Essentials and Trends

Yes! I know it's Back-To-School time and as much as we might all be dreading it, we can all turn that frown upside down and cheer for the goodness of shopping for the season. Yes that is right, I've put together the essentials you'll need, fashion wise, for your new school year. Whether it is middle school, high school, or college, these will get you through the days.

There are obviously going to be difficulties if your school has a dress code but just remember you can always spruce up that uniform with:

*A fun/textured backpack
*Unique shoes
*Gold jewelry (or silver, but I just LOVE gold) or a nice watch

Let's get into it.....
1. Slip On Tennies - Yes, forget your wedge sneakers this year because we are all about comfort and sleek style so what other way then the easy access slip-on shoe? I've been on the hunt of some great leather ones like these from River Island. Add them with a pair of baggy ripped jeans and you will be the coolest (and comfiest) kid on campus.

2. Neutral Colored Backpack - I love fun colorful backpacks, don't get me wrong but I'm thinking about some more convenient yet stylish ways for your school year. One way to do that is get a neutral colored backpack to match all your outfits. It will save you lots of time switching out your supplies from one backpack to another. But if you like to do that, then by all means but your go-to backpack should be in tones like brown, tan, or black.

3. Oversized Denim Shirt - We will all need this item for our lazy days. Yes, lazy days still look presentable! You never know who you're going to meet. It's always an essential for me to make sure that even if I'm tired, I won't show it. Just add a cute skirt (which are very easy to put on I will tell you) and you are done! Denim shirts can go with anything and you can wear them as outerwear as well. Talk about some great functions.

4. Stand-Out Accessory - I love having that one bright piece I wear with all my clothing. This bright pink band for this watch is perfect and a great conversation starter (I'm all about that stuff). This can also be your nails or make-up.

5. Go-To Gold Accessories - I am a lover of gold and it always spruces up an outfit. I like to have a set of rings, a necklace, bracelet, and earrings I can always rely on. These would be good everyday pieces. Make sure to pick out ones that reflect you, like how I picked out a necklace that shapes out all the continents, how cool is that?
6. Essential Leather - Okay, we all need at least one leather jacket. It's great to make an investment in a good quality one that will last you years. Literally top it off any outfit and you will look good. I promise you. Even if you're wearing sweats (which I hope you don't to school), but if you do, maybe wear a leather jacket to spruce that baby up! I like more loose fits but tighter jackets this season are picking up so I may have to invest in one!

Now that we have gone through the essentials you will need this school year, let's get into the trends! These trends were talked about by Mary Kate Steinmiller, Senior Marketing Editor of Teen Vogue. I'm pretty much doing my take on these trends and sharing the tips she presented at the Back-To-School Saturday event (post about experience up soon!).

This trend has been really big for quite some time. Even I took a crack at it a couple of months ago [insert link to post]. Here are some tips on how to achieve the perfect denim on denim look:
* Never wear the same washes, always mix them with light/faded with darker ones
*To not make it look too matchy, try a denim with a print on it.

Denim print shirt - Forever 21// Distressed Jeans - Topshop
White after Labor day? Uh yes please! White on white is the hottest trend right now and gives a women a more innocent glow. (I mean you're wearing all white, come on. Who wouldn't feel like an angel?) Let's talk about how to not overwhelm the public with this trendy look:
*Mix up your whites, as in different shades of white. Make sure none of the pieces are the same exact shade. (Like the denim trend basically)
*Wear white pants and a creamy big knit sweater! (The perfect white on white ensemble) Big knits in whites or creams are perfect for this trend because it exaggerates the white and also yells out "Hello Winter, I'm ready for you!" (For you Game of Thrones fans, you'd probably say "Winter is Coming")
Knit Sweater - ModCloth// Pants - Topshop
This whole 90's grunge and punk is definitely back in full swing but this time around, we're keeping it more classy. Hence, "clean cut" because the prints, patterns, and textures that scream punk are on simple cuts.
*Add a little pop of your favorite print. Animal prints like cheetah and zebra are great and you can never go wrong with plaid.
*Leather is a must, so spice it up with a tight fit and a quilted texture (Chanel reference anyone?)
*Add your favorite leather jacket, maybe from your white trend phase? This will brighten up the outfit to contrast the darker colors you would wear this this trend.
*Add your favorite lace-up/combat boots and your look is perfected!
Leather Skirt - Thread Scene// Top - Dorthy Perkins// Leather Jacket - Dorthy Perkins
Phew we are done! I hope you enjoy this post and I hope you enjoy your new school year. For those of you who are out of school and working, who said this trends can't work for you? Of course they can!

Have fun, be active, stay focused, and love every moment! Good luck with your new school year.
