Lost photos of 2012

As 2012 comes to an end, I'd like to say congrats because we're still alive! Hah, okay. But anyways, I'd just like say that I've learned so much this year on how to be a better blogger and how amazing it is to get to know other bloggers. So watch out for me in 2013. (I sat quietly and observed, now I'm going to execute what I've learned!)

It sure has been a busy year for me and I haven't been able to post as much as I'd like to. So here is a quick mash-up of the things that happened during 2012! Enjoy lost photos that I never got around posting on The Deathly Fashion (including a photo spam of pictures from Cambodia at the end):

Got me a car, yo.

Shoe Sunday

I'm back y'all and with posts weekly! I had this segment I always wanted to do which was Shoe Sunday, where every Sunday I dedicate a post to shoes because, let's get real, who doesn't love shoes?! So here are my picks for this week:

The theme for these picks was for all occasions during the holiday season.

1. Julia Cap Top Flat from Tibi.com - These are a perfect pair of flats to classy-up any outfit. The gold at the toe-cap really makes all the difference, and I love the bright red color (perfect for the holiday season)! This would definitely tie together a look for school with skinnies, a striped tee, and an anorak with a fur-lined hood.

2. DV by Dolce Vita Joli Bootie - Oh how I've obsessed over these since they came out just a few months ago! These would be the perfect boots if you're living a life on the go. The lace-up style and the cut of the boot are great (I actually tried these on and they are amazing), plus the heel height is perfect for a little lift and comfort.

3. Studded Pointy Flats from Topshop - Aren't these darling? I think that anything t-strapped and pointy on a shoe automatically feminizes them but the studs give it the edge that every girl needs. Wear these to a small holiday get-together with your favorite skater dress and rockin' arm candy; and since these flats are in a neutral color it will give you more options about what to wear with it!

4. Givenchy Leather Wedge Knee Boots - OK, let's talk about these babies right here. The first person I saw wear these was the always wonderful Sandra Hagelstam from 5 Inch and Up. Of course her being one of my favorite bloggers ever, I was automatically inspired to love these. And I really do, how sleek are these? The fact that the leather covers the wedge but not fully, it gives a new dynamic to layers on shoes. Most likely, I'd wear this with anything. Done.

Hope you enjoyed, until then, have a great holiday!

Is it really the end of the world?

Well if it was, I guess it would be okay since all the Harry Potter movies have already been released. Kidding. Now, I know there is a lot of mixed opinions about other people's opinion on the world ending tomorrow, but to lighten the mood here's a look of  one of my favorite labels: Badgley Mischka, whom have taken inspo from the Aztec and Mayan art. (Perfect, right?) Isn't that ironic and charming and everything in between? I don't know how to explain it.

Mark Badgley and James Mischka are no strangers to well crafted gowns and for their pre-fall 2013 collection (which just came out two days ago) I was surprised and filled with a feeling of happiness and shock when I found out their inspiration. So let's take a look...

Can't you feel an epic story of good against evil fighting for who will be sacrificed to the rain gods?

Mark and James have really done well at executing a vibe of Aztec and Mayan artwork into gowns that scream award season.  As for the fits, I'm all for form fitting, but the boxy/straight red gown is growing on me. And the gold patterns are the perfect touch of elegance. They've done it again.

Hope you enjoyed this short little post to not waste your time before the world ends. Until then, have a happy holiday!

There and back

Chambray - Nordstrom// Jeans - Vigoss// Shoes - Marant Knock-offs via eBay// Headband - Nordstrom// Watch - Betsey Johnson

It sure has been a busy month! Obviously you can tell since I was absent all of November. The lowdown: Key Club Fall Rally + a million other things during my birthday weekend (I'm finally 17!), the overwhelming amount of Othello reading and everything in between. November was satisfactory and hardworking as college applications are sent in. *applause, applause* YES. Seniors, we're done for now. Time to push for that 4.0 (or higher) then party at prom! Now I am back, this time forever. It just seems like the first couple of months in school are always the hardest. (No worries, I've been taking note of all of fashion month

I feel like this denim on denim layer process is a classic now. So with the never growing budget in my bank account I finally was able to pick out a perfect denim chambray that will last me for years. The importance is it being staple - quality over that quantity ya know?? And those knock-off Marants.. don't worry about that; I just kinda wear them everyday.

Enjoy the week all!

P.S. Who is excited about the Hobbit coming out this month?! I am! Happy Holidays!

xoxo

Deep breath in the mirror

T-Shirt - Nordstrom's Rack// Faux Leather Skirt - eBay// sneaker wedges - eBay// Necklace - Forever 21// Watch - Betsey Johnson// red wrap - Nordstrom's Rack

So I either start off my 'graphs with school or how horrible/confusing this weather is in Cali. Now I'm gonna start off with my fun experiences on eBay! Yay! After loading up on the Poshmark App. funds and trying to stretch my dollar I, of course, looked to eBay. A long time admirer of well priced clothes + free shipping (thought it takes forevs) I finally gave in. I bought the faux leather skater skirt for a mere $11 and it's the shortest skirt I own! There goes the risks of buying on eBay from a totally different country BUT, I still love it. The other purchase that might make some bloggers cringe are Inspired Isabel Marant's Betty sneaker wedges. I know, I know, but I had to. If you follow me on tumblr then you know I've wanted these for over a year!(Can you believe I still wanted them too? They are a perfect modern/hip staple) They sell for about $70 (shipping included) on eBay but I found a lovely user who was re-selling them, unworn, due to a shoe size problem for only $25 (with expedite shipping!!). And I am glad to say they fit me perfectly and I wear them probably 5 days out of the week. Not sure if they are still even on trend, but here at the Deathly Fashion, I wear what I want to, trend or not

In other news, anyone pick up Tay Swift's new album, RED? Two fav songs off of it are Begin Again and 22. Just putting that out there.

Enjoy the week, loves!

NAVEN FASHION SHOW EXPERIENCE

So I'm in hiatus heaven much? Sorry about that, so much going on and so little time. But I'm back and here to tell you about the awesomesauce experience I had at the NAVEN fashion show at Siren Studios during LA Fashion Week on October 16, 2012.

So let me just note that this wouldn't be a possible experience for me if it wasn't for the amazing Kelsey from Runaway In LA. Seriously, her blog is the koala-tea of quality blogs if you get my play on words. She has true talent and will definitely go far in whatever she plans to. Love you girl, I had a great time with you!

The Style Club LA, an  upcoming online fashion community where you can talk, share, and discover everything fashion with friends and celebs, was so kind to allow me to tag along with Kelsey to the NAVEN Fashion Show which, may I add, was on a school night. (You can only imagine the time I had at school the next day) Our job was to work as camera reporters and interview celebs and the hottest people. Faces like Jillian Rose Reed from MTV's Awkward and Samuel Larsen from Glee had me starstruck. Can't wait to see how my face looks while interviewing Samuel Larsen - most likely it will be a 'I'm trying so hard not to fan-girl right now' face. Others who were at the event were Hanna Beth, Taylor Spreitler from ABC Family's Melissa and Joey, Nick Simmons, Debby Ryan, Kym Johnson, and more!

My first fashion show, even though I was standing on my tip-toes trying to get a good view, was ultimately everything I dreamed of. The theme of it was Candy Land, which resulted in free candy plus Kelsey  and me in pastel colors. NAVEN showed sexy and simple cuts, an amazing digital butterfly print on a long maxi, and my favorite - a mint colored quilted leather jacket, beyond amazing. The runway was even graced by America's Next Top Model's Allison Harvard. Like experiences I've had watching runway shows via internet I expected the show to feel short, which is ironic because you wait about 2 hours at the showcase until it starts.

Nonetheless the show was amazing and I had a great time interviewing the guests as well. This experience and opportunity was so rare for a rookie blogger like me, so I cherished every moment of it. It was a great peak into the industry I will one day be working in and let me tell you - it was confirmation that this is what I want to do. Which is perfect time because college applications are happening right now!

Me and Kelsey
Dress: Boutique from the Del Amo Fashion Center// Heels: B. Makowsky// Clutch: Urban Outfitters// Necklace + Bangles: Forever 21//

Scored some free goodies after the show including NYX products, a NAVEN tank top and skirt, UNITE 7 Second Conditioner (In love with this), and The Style Club Stickers!

So sorry for the hiatus again, but I hope you enjoyed reading this experience that I got to share with you all! Thanks so much to The Style Club and Kelsey from Runaway In LA!

Update

Here's the update: School has started. Is there more to explain? Kidding! California has no seasons and it rained on the first day of school then was blazing hot the next day. Isn't it supposed to be fall? I just bought a killer leather/cargo jacket via eBay that can't be worn until the degrees decrease. I kid you not that I am even currently dying of heat as I type. What is this California? When school starts I expect cold weather and hot coco during nutrition but no, I'm wearing tanks and skirts. Howevs, that doesn't stop me from wearing my new ShoeMint booties - seriously obsessed with them - and they are the first pair of shoes I've gotten in a while that aren't black! The shock!

This on and off hiatus will last for a while due to SATs, ACTs, college apps... blah blah blah, school things oh, plus yearbook! Say hello to your head designer, hey now! So enjoy these outfit posts all in one for now! And let's talk about NYFW and LFW! Love all the whites and leather accents... so great! Milan just started today - will try my hardest to keep up! Till next time... xo

Peplum + Print

Confession: I've worn this outfit more than once and I can't believe I'm only posting about it now. Well now that that is out in the open, let's discuss peplum! Love  it? I do! Talk about a fun and flattering shirt. I even got a traditional Cambodia outfit top in a peplum style (remind me to show you!). The color of this one I got from Cotton On a while back is just perfect and what better way to wear it then with the coolest pair of shorts I have in my closet? Then again, my shorts collection is very petite. Want to give a guess onto where I got them? Kohls. Saaaayy what? Yes, Kohls. My parents are avid shoppers there and though I quite enjoy browsing through their pillows and Vera Wang merchandise, I do look in their clothing section just for kicks. And it was fate for me to find these awesome sauce printed shorts for a deal.

But enough about that, let's talk about how to spend the rest of summer! I've been swimming in my pool practically everyday and Poshmark-ing my way to some back-to-school funds! And, readers of The Deathly Fashion, I had to get this awesome Deathly Hallows inspired ring (not the true title, but to me it is) of course and a skull bracelet.
Top - Cotton On// Shorts - Kohl's// Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell// Bag - Gift by my BFF// Sunnies - AJ Morgan
